Thats a bit harsh Zed..... nobody said that they dident have 'a great time'
Now as for the other remark, well some comenting here may not have been on the ride today (me included) but why should that mean we cant comment on the situation......... ok so we dont know every detail, but we do have shit to say cos we (those not on the ride) still like to help out were we can..... you are saying we dont have the right.... sorry we bloody well do.

ps: I dont like reading about a stack... just like you dont like being involved in one, If i can say something that 'could' help out a fello rider then ill say it.

pss: Zed I relise that the above quote was not aimed at me.
    cheers DD

I am still glad that I went on the ride - As far as the gravel is concerned I could have done that anywhere, Least I had people around to get the bike up on its feet, check it etc. (Thanks guys)

Will give a few people a ring regarding replacing the fairing's and shall carry on from there... My Insurance excess is 700 so it will be about that to fix it up so I shall just fork out the cash and be done with it and still have a no claims bones etc.

And now yes I can now say, "been there done that" and in which I learnt alot from today.

Yip twas me. SH1 one was pretty easy, just a worrying moment when we lost ricksta. (I'll let him explain that one).

And we were cruising along nice and easy.... I guess he just picked the wrong time to pass or didnt see the on coming truck for some reason or something!
That's also partially my fault, I could see that he was going to try and pass and I could also see the truck coming the other way. But there was no way I could catch up to where he was on my GN250 to warn him in time. The GN250 is really starting to annoy me in that respect, it just can't accelerate quickly when I need it to.

The way you guys are portraying these bins today is over the top, and you ones that are giving out the advice weren't even there! It's a different scene when you're actually there talking to the binner and discussing what went wrong...you wouldn't dare tell them off or make some of the comments you've said to their faces at the time.

In general, everyone had a great time on the KB ride today I'm sure. Don't take that away from us by your righteous indignation!
    well, had to be said.

I have pulled up newbies for running wide before, and I'd do it again. Hell, I'll pull anyone up and find out why it happened etc. But, it's not pulling them up for a bollockin, cos that's what they don't need. It's constructive reassurance. Tell them off in a way, cos it's fukin dangerous to them and everyone around them, but go over it again with them and talk it thru. Ask them where it went wrong, why it went wrong and what they will do next time. Learn from the lesson well, don't just dismiss any 'brown pant' moments as just that.

Just watch and learn people. Don't make the same mistake twice.

Ive had a few bins in my time and I know what it can do to your nerve and confidence when you find yourself lying on the road!
When I first dropped my bike on the Driveway trying a hillstart, (Which none of you lot heard about except affman when he saw the whole thing around here, lucky no damage as I let it down slowly etc) it put me off - Had to conquer myself and went out to clevedon and back doing the scenic route with all the twisty’s etc and that helped alot.

As for today - well i knew i had to get home somehow and that was to ride - it was a bit nervracking as i had no mirror to use mind you etc.

Shit happens -> Deal with it -> Learn from it -> Overcome it.

Don’t know what to do about the damage - Looking at it the Right Fairing will have to be totally replaced and a respray because of the different colour my bike is. Front Faring well its will need at least painting and a little bit of plastic welding. Ohh and then there is the helmet that got scratched both on the visor and the helmet is self. Least I did not get damaged (this time) .
Any suggestions on wether I should claim this under insurance for what has been done? – Need to find out what me excess is…

If someone can shove the pics up that would be good.
oh no no you didn't!!!!!!! you crashed my previous bike? From the sounds of it, some of you had a good ride and some of you others didn't. You all should be very grateful that nothing more serious happened.

Ride safe. Myself and Madmax headed up SH1 from Pukekohe... good short ride, pity we couldn't go down SH22

    Hey,
I was involved in one of the crashes today. I don't really know much about the other 3 crashes, but it does sound like they could have been avoided with some experience. As Bugjuice says, you have to learn how to lean and learn where your limits are, and maybe inexperience was at fault with these ones. I dunno, i wasn't there.
Yes, 5 crashes sounds really bad, and 0 would have been much better number but sometimes these things happen.

My 'incident' was a little different than the other 3. I'd like to think I'm capable of knowing my own limits, and for the first 5 hours or so of the day, i had no "close calls" or whatever, i had a great time!
Anyway I don't really want to go into details but our group wasn't doing anything outside of our own limits and I'm sure the other guys could back me up here. I figure we were just a bit unlucky, and in hinesight maybe i could have made a different decision in the split second that i had - e.g. do what Matthew did!! - but i suppose i'm lucky and can learn from that.
For now, I'm taking it easy. Gonna leave my bike alone for a few months.

Anyway thanks for the great day guys, it was awesome!
    - Mike

SD, don't know what happened on yours. I hope you're ok and that the bike can be fixed.
But get back on dude. You can't let it rest now, else you'll probably never ride again, or really badly for a while.
What's the saying - get back on the horse.. Doesn't mean you have to ride like a loon again, just take it easy, but stopping/having a break isn't the answer. It'll plague you're nuggin for ages and only get worse. For your sake, hope you don't.

Good onya Mike! Was good riding with you today. The last couple of rides I've been on I recall you keeping up well on that 400 of yours, you have plenty of natural talent there!

    Take care,

    Matthew

That's the beauty about KB group rides. We not only have great mates.

But as you saw today professional ambulance officers. And mechanical whizzes too..... there;s all sorts.

Death and Draco God Bless You.

And remember most of the faster riders here have crashed a lot.

So you can learn and laugh at their stories, instead of crying over yours.

Hey thanks for advice Bugjuice. Yea it's my first crash so I've had plenty of time to think hard. I'll definately take your advice into consideration. I'm considering all points of view at the moment!
The damage to the VFR isn't too bad. Definately fixable anyway. Hope I'm not too sore in the morning! :-p
