Smile Old Fartz tri serues side car report:

Manfield:On practise had to push the bike into the pits with teething issues which we sorted out.
Race one: At the drop of the flag red visor came down wheel spinning in first second and third I stretched the chain. A slow start and quiet throttle control for the race. Back in pits fixed problems, sidecar Bob helped with fueling issues.

Race two: Good start, thoroughly enjoyed the race, knocked four seconds a lap off personal best.

Wanganui: Buggered rear brakes on truck getting down.
On practise bike was going well.Shona (swinger) does'nt like track, so told to go slow, track very bumpy and she get's thrown around a lot.

Race one: Good race still getting to know track, going faster all the time.
Race two: Good start from back of grid, slowly working way up field when motor went bang and stopped. Coasted injured bike off track, got bike going again, limped back to pits packed up and headed for Taupo.Meanwhile pitt crew was working frantically on truck to repair brakes.

    Taupo:

Practise: Bike started okay, so went out, after several laps a knocking noise started, so came in.And on inspection found the cams had been severely damaged. So packed bike away and spent the rest of the meeting watching races and hanging out with the riders.Would far rather have been racing but otherwise a great meeting.

The faster you go the less you feel the bumps

I hope it's not to terminal or expensive?

canged the type of oil to a minerial and found out it dosnt have zinc in it. the cams look like a file or grinder has been run over the lobes,on draining the oil there was a silver slick on top with sand like metal fragments on the bottom hope to have it running for paeroa so it will be expensive

    Hi Alan,

Did the lobes have cracks across them from side to side? If that is what you are referring to, then that's fine. They are the original Megacycle hot cams I had from Gavin Porteous many many many moons ago. The parent metal shrinks and the material added to give the higher lift cracks - but doesn't let go. I was so nervous about them, I even rang Megacycle up in the US to check!!!

If its something different to the above, then if you put standard cams in, you'll lose a truck load of HP!!
But at least Shona may be able to hold on easier..........
    See you at Paeroa.
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??

Good write up old fartz, nice to catch up with you and Shona again and her partner Luke. Thanks for the help in getting Sue mobile for that last race, i was going well in my race till the rear punctured on the third lap with a piece of wire, so was stuck out there while they ran her last race.
Catch up with you guys sometime soon . Cheers,

It was a Shame to see you & Shona out of action for the Final Round of the Tri Series and it just goes to show you how frustrating Road Racing can be at times.
All you want to do is be out there amongst the rest of them enjoying was it is you came there to do .
Thanks again for being there for me when i needed you too, Very much appreciated.
Look forward to catching up with you guys again soon, so until then Happy Racing.
