    Gender icons

I've only just noticed them back on display - centre stage!
Given that some people set them to show their gender incorrectly I don't know why it is that I kinda like knowing whether I'm communicating with a woman or man.

Dunno what I'd do if the gender icons suddenly included and alien, animal or rubber chicken that people could use instead.
I lahk to moove eet moove eet...

Do you think we need an "other" option for gender?

Life would be so much easier if you addressed questions with a simple answer.

Are you think of culture perhaps, instead of gender?

I came into this thread to post a picture of Sly Stallone. Guess we're talking about different 'gender icons', though.

When I first saw the gender things were gone I was like "woo! reject the gender binary!". Then I realised that, for some topics where it may be relevant, I would rather know the gender identity of the person who's giving me advice or making some comment or other. As for an 'other' option, sure, though it may be tricky and confusing coming up with an icon to cover the huge range of other genders...

this is about the only forum where my gender is shown correctly. on most other boards, i select male. i consider it a safety thing. it may be working against me as i did get a spam mail the other day from some nutter looking for a husband!
