Please note that while racing (if you could call my slow speed racing that is!) and trying to sort out problems with my bike (which Henk fixed by swapping my carb for his spare - thanks Henk), I was not able to take photos. My brother's attempts with my camera were a total disaster!!!

This was my first attempt at racing in over 25 years and my brother's first attempt at being a sports photographer, ever!

Was an awesome weekend.

I just realised that this should not be in the bucket section as the photos are from other classes (my brother's attempts to record our bucket races did not work out )

How do you go with the mx handle bars on your FXR?

I prefer the MX bars rather than the standard bars on the FXR. I have more choice of position on the bike with them. I think I might cut the seat a bit to remove the passenger hump so I can move back easier and also consider trying a more motard-style of riding , with my leg out as I do on the dirt bike. It gives me those options.

And you're welcome to hang onto the carb as long as you need it. Of course I may try and repossess it mid race when you start beating me.

Henk, thanks for the loan of the carb. Your lap times were typically 3 seconds or more quicker than mine so I will need some more go-faster bits just to keep up. I'm picking up an old XR250 carb this morning. That might help. If that works I'll return your spare when it suits you. The profile photo is not sharp at full size and most of the others are worse. I now realise that it takes more than 2 minutes to learn how to be a sports photographer .

remove the frount brake lever (that little bit of extra weight removal seems to make things faster)

Yes, Ray did take a few of the buckets that were OK. We'll be better prepared next time.

Me too! Motard is such an exciting style of riding.

I'm keen to have a go, not on a big bike, but trying the motard style on my high handlebarred FXR150. I'm used to kicking my leg out on the dirt bike. I will give it a try next time out on practice day at Mt Wellington (near Penrose, Auckland).

I would be a bit carefull sticking your foot out there as it may become a target and get run over (there wasd a rule earlier about running over legs that where extended infrount of bikes. Something about it being compulsary)
