    Electrical problems with the GSXR

So i was on the ride to take CBR250 Tom home and everthing was going great. till we got to Napier, where it seemed as though the battery had gone flat. after a successful push start the bike was up and running, but the dash wasn't working. After a couple of hours of riding we stopped for a break. trying to start the bike required another push start. after this push start the dash started to work. the bike ran fine and electric started every time. then after a few days the battery had gone flat and wouldn't start. it took a lot of effort to start. when it was going i took it to a mechanic who found that the circuit between the stator and the reg/rec was broken. but that all the wires staticly tested fine. the stator only had 2/3 phases working which stopped the whole charging circuit.

is there anyone in chch who is knowledgeable in these matters or would be able to point me in the right direction. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've always been told when repairing the stator to replace the rect/reg unit as well, just to safeguard the $200 rewind. Even if they test with the right resistances you never know when a diode will get that last stray voltage to fail. There's also a bloke in hamilton that does a good rewind, can find the name/number if you like. He charges around $200.
