Exactly, we're getting fucked over with ACC levies cos we might hurt ourselves, whereas drink driving bastards (which is illegal btw, not just frowned upon as us bikers are!) are getting hit with a small fine and disqualification, which some claim the can't pay, and ignore the ban anyways.

I have even gone to work on the bus the next day if I know I have nudged it and could be over the limit, it's just not worth it.

Just keep it clean all, keep it clean

If I'm riding I'll usually only have a maximum of one beer, and then change to coke or something else non-alcoholic. I'm just as likely to have some pub food at the same time as well.

Personally I think you need a lot more concentration and attention to detail when riding a bike, and the consequences can be rather severe if they are found lacking.

About this time last year i went for a ride with some mates over to Whitianga. Passing the Kopu pub noticed about 8 or 10 sports bikes in the park. We stopped at the mobil to feed the face and get a cold drink. On the way up the inland road the same bikes caught up, in heavy holiday traffic, and proceeded to pass us. About the 4th bike overtook us on a corner and high sided half way round ending up in the bushes on the opposite side of the road. Legs all busted up along with plenty of other scrapes. As i went back to his aid quick as i could, one of his mates came round the corner and did the very same thing only this time he mounted a car and did some major injuries to the passenger ( it was a convertable ). When we got close enough to them to be of any help they smelt like the proverbial brewery. 3 people badly injured ( luckliy not dead ) and 2 of them tested way over the limit. The girl who was the passenger was in hospital for 4 weeks. Lost one of her hands and had some severe facial injuries that didn't look too pretty.

My slant on this is....DONT DRINK!

Am wondering how many reckon its ok, and on the other hand what consequences have been seen or happened to you.

Kiwi's and booze are a fucked up mix at times, bet there's been more than a few "offs" cos of it.
We normally only have one at the pub, when we have our regular rides. Definitely not a piss trip at all, and I don't believe any of us would encourage that sort of behaviour when out riding anyway

I get some weird looks when I stand at a bar and ask for a coffee - but that sure doesn't stop me! (nice coffee or crap coffee, doesn't matter, if I want one, then I'll order it)

I drop into pubs all the time, did it last w/e actually. We find it's a great way to meet people, whether they be other bikers or just locals. However, one of my favourite tipples is Bundaberg ginger beer or if I'm having a pint of real beer I'll often mate it with a toasted sandwich or similar bar snack. I would imagine two pints and no food would probably put you up to (or over) the limit so one is enough. I've been on poker runs where it looks like everyone is bar-hopping (which they are) but not everyone is drinking alcohol. In fact, I was on a poker run last summer with about 350 registrations and the cops hassled the crap out of heaps of riders. Some expired Warrants of Fitness were spotted, a few expired rego's and so on but there were no reports of any DIC's even though we'd toured four bars.

It's not where you drink, it's what you drink while you're there.

I'd have a beer or two and take the car a few kms through light traffic, but I wouldn't drive utterly pissed.

As for riding, forget it. My bike weaves around bad enough as it is, and if I mount a kerb pr clip a traffic island with the fucker its going to hurt. One stubbie and I'm off the bike for an hour. A 750ml and I'm off the bike for the day.

My personal limit for drink riding/driving is zero. Nil. Nix. None.

Plenty of coffee but no booze at all.

agreed just because my bike is out side a pub doesn't mean I am drinking alchhol... and no I don't drink alchhol if I have to do any for of riding... but once I know I don't have to... different story

    Makes too of us.

It's very unattractive to the opposite sex when you fail to kick over your bike again and again because your too intoxicated to get it right.

Only 'village people' find the thought of you kicking over your bike attractive, sober or pissed.

Agreed. I never drink and ride, as it affects your judgement, reaction times, and balance - all critical for riding a bike well. And riding a bike less than well is too big a risk.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
