Many bikes/bikers pass on double yellow lines and as for being undertaken i can only assume you were nannying along sat a foot away from the yellows holding people behind you up.... i'd have done the same thing and flipped you the bird.

Dont suppose you were a bit too close to the double yellows,
The rider behind you couldnt pass hence you hogging the yellows.
He realises you are a bit new to riding so he decides to pass on the inside for his own safety,
Just as he does, you notice him so close and pull over to the left assuming he'd pass on the right.
Therefore you both end up nearly hitting eachother due to circumstance?

    Just a thought....

You may pass him on the right but you may not cross a yellow no passing line at any time.

He would be showing how much of a noob he is. Never pass on the left.

Nah don't do either of those things. In fact, if you are about to be overtaken by an experienced rider don't do ANYTHING. Just hold still and let him go - he won't hit you.

The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Welll I do pass on double yellow lines - sometimes, a bike has alot of power, and sometimes it is quick and easy to do so on the double yellows. easy on a bike, not in a cage. A bike also doesn't have to cross over far from the lines

i'm pretty sure if you got two lanes, like you're saying, you can pass him on the left lane. you can also overtake if you stay inside the yellow lines...never cross the yellow lines...there's monsters over there!
