I got ticketed for a traffic infringement, but got no ticket?

I was pulled up out Albany way by an undercover in the last-gen holden ute who promptly gave me a ticket and said he was sure there's another $400 for exceeding the 70k learner restriction. Thank god my Rego ran out THAT day.

Anyhow, has anyone here ever been ticketed like this? Just some old feller in a popo overall uniform and said I was being ticketed and buggered off.
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

Maybe he said there should have been another one but used his discretionary powers to give you a break.

I don't see why he wouldn't have given you all the tickets at the time.

You might also receive an extra ticket in the mail.

IIRC, he didn't write anything down, but he made it clear I'd be getting a ticket, which confused me.

    Ya, I'm pretty sure I didn't.

Is there some kind of rule where if a constabulary officer has to issue you a ticket then and there or what? I'm already expecting to pay the large fine, so it's just curiosity.

I would say he was a Mermaid, and not an undercover.

What was the ticket, for if not for exceeding 70km/h leaner limit, which is now $100.

No rule about that - ie camera tickets etc.

If he didn't issue you one then and there there is a 50/50 chance you won't get one. Why don't you contact him to ask when you can expect it?

Oh Yeah, Marty. That's a good idea. Like clanging on the jail door with your tin mug demanding to know if ones execution is going to go ahead today, or not.

'Scuse me! Am I getting hanged today, or what?' Read, 'Scuse me! You gonna give me a ticket, or what?'

You cops are seriously weird persons.

I had one do a uey in front of me the other day. No lights a-flashing, to show great urgency. And the bugger glared at me for nearly spoiling his day. Like t-boning a carelessly turned cop-car wouldn't spoil my day!

I didn't want to act as if it was something to boast about, but it was 110 in a 70 zone. This is what pretty much assures me there is no chance of a dropped ticket.
Good to know I don't lose a whole weeks wage over that 70k rule, which I have been let off of twice before.

Anyway, it seems my question has been answered, so I thank you for the input to my curiosity.

undercover utes are most likely the CVIU... normally the marked utes on the motorways are the sergeants, one of the highest ranks you would normally come across (don't ask).

CVIU certainly have the powers to pull you over, fine you, etc but generally don't bother with civilian vehicles, concentrating on trucks etc. It's possible he wasn't sure on the rules, and is going to find out later. Usually, when the cops "send it in the mail" its partly to make you behave and toe the line, as the extra time looking it up etc, isn't worth it (they're still humans that like spending time with family etc). Still... you can quite possibly get it in the mail.

Have the cops got utes now too? How long have they had these? I'd better keep an eye out
Yup. 110 in a 70km/h zone means a possible 28 day licence suspension

It's 41 or greater over the limit. At least this is what he told me.

And yes, it was a silver SS ute with a cab.
