ART - Advanced Rider Training 17th Jan

This Sunday is the AMCC ART day at pukekohe raceway, and what places are left are up filling fast!

This sort of track practice with instruction is a great way to improve your road riding and is an aid for new track riders also. It's also safer than any road, and help is immediately on hand.

As part of our tireless efforts, the SMC has a grant from AUSA to pay for half the cost of training courses for our members** - this brings the cost of ART from $140 to $70 if you book before the 14th (it even includes a supplied lunch!) or $150 down to $75 if you turn up on the day (no lunch for you, if you even get a place).

See attached and wiki for details (includes syllabus for novice group)

I'm booked - are you? Entry form attached so no excuses

    -Andrew, SMC Safety Officer

(sorry about the late notice - I'll try to be more proactive next time)

**Currently the subsidy process is to tell us (squiggles or myself) first what you're doing, then afterwards present the receipt for full amount paid and we'll compensate from there hopefully within the fortnight. This is because the club doesn't have considerable funds on hand and AUSA won't just give us the money in advance to spend on beer, but will reimburse the club after the event. The grant extends only to our members, so unfortunately this is only possible for current AUSMC members as at time of the event; we can't help if you're not recorded as having paid the $1 membership fee even though you may be a valued and/or frequent character at club events.

Also worth noting is that the subsidy is only for 6 people.

Interested to hear how this goes as I have a voucher to use at the next one (provided the VFR is running and I have donated some fresh beverages to Stephen's beer fridge, that is... :P)

Yes, but said V4 will need to be in one piece and that is by no means guaranteed to happen by this weekend

SMC safety officer Approves this training course (and apparently so does STAR insurance)

If you want to exceed the speed limit, you should be down behind the windshield. :slap:

    So much for the training!

it is STAR insurance that approve the ART days
If you weren’t at the prize giving at the end of the day, we had a visit from head person at Star Insurance to advise they have been ‘blind testing’ us over the 3 ART days we have run for this season and have rated the AMCC ART days ‘A1’ and will insure riders participating in Groups 1, 2 and 3 without excess penalty – the only track day operator to be awarded this rating. Certificates of Completion are available for you to use as evidence of attendance at an ART day. These can be picked up on the day or can be sent out on request.
