Tyres to suit 2003 GSX250

Hi,
A mate has one of the above bikes, and is after a new set of sporty tyres. The bike has a set of Pirelli Sport Demons at the moment that are decidedly flat-looking. I'm a Michelin fan myself, and my mate quite liked the PP 2CTs on my 1000 (might have had something to do with the bike).....
Any suggestions good people, would be appreciated. The tyres are 100/80-17 and 140/70-17.

I think you will find that sporty radials won't come in the appropriate sizes for that bike. Sport Demons are great tyres, but there are alternatives in cross plies that are just as good. Bridgestone BT45s are one and they are dual compound. I think Dunlop have real sticky ones too - GPR A10?

If the Demons are flat then it sounds like he isn't spending enough time in the twisties! BT45s should eliminate this problem.

Exactly.
If he isn't using what is on there to it's full potential, there is no point putting on really sticky rubber (GPRa10's) to go in straight lines!

Further, on these little machines, if you put on too good of tyre, you will find the limits of the (non-adjustable) suspension very quickly.
Don't get me wrong, they are a great bike for their purpose, but it is a GSX. NOT a GSXR!

Asa I say though, the suspension is non-adjustable, so super sticky rubber would be wasted really....
Great little bikes if ridden within their limits.... Used to keep up with some serious kit when i took the missus one out on pack rides.

I'd stick with the sport demons man.

I had a bunch of z rated tyres on my old spada, I couldn't tell any difference. Your buddy clearly isn't eeking out the last bit of performance from a grunty bike..
The pirellis will have him/her scraping the pegs as much as any other tyre..

I recently bought one of these and it had both tyres new - Bridgestone Battlax BT45 (rear) and a Pirelli on the front. I would probably replace both with BT45s - very nice tyre to ride on.

Same as my bike. Ive had both BT45s and a couple of sets of Sport Demons, both lasted about the same distance, but I reckon the Sport Demons give better feedback, and feel more planted in the wet, and plenty of grip in the dry, went for a ride the other day and the rear was balling up! Couldnt believe it.

Worst thing about these bikes is the suspension, the shoulders of the front tyre chew out pretty fast because they are so undersprung in the front, but you'd be happy with either of these sets.

Sport demons are great tyres, I run them on my post classic race bike and on my road RD as well. handy having a use for the worn race rubber
Great in the wet too
I have used BT45s , good tyre as well but I prefer the Demons
