    Burning balls...

    and raw knees!

Rode to Hamilton yesterday, and for the first time in a long time found the balls of my feet feeling quite tender. As I adjusted my foot position from instep to ball a few times I felt an unpleasant sensation surrounding the top of my right knee. It was aggravated by stops at almost every set of lights as we came into Hamilton (I was not keen to try a new position of "stopping with left foot only down" while not being terribly comfortable).
When I arrived at destination and removed my leathers the flesh at the top of both my knees, the right in particular, were a fiery red colour and slightly weepy. Eeeew.

I guess it was a combination of heat (although because of the temp I chose not to wear anything under my pants), sweat and leg movement which caused the skin to burn the way it did.

I don't really want to wear leggings under my leathers in the heat while riding, and am too fat to wear jeans under them.

Any suggestions (apart from lose the pork) for how to cope with this icky situation?

p.s. riding naked is not really an option....

You can get some cream from the Dr which will clear the burning balls right up.

What? Not what you meant? Never mind then.

Talcum Powder on the legs before you set off?

Or that flash Nike gear (I think it's called Drifit) which takes sweat away??

If the leathers above the knee were white, assuming the heat from direct sun hitting this part of the body/leathers all day.

I remember painting white leather shoes black and it lasted for ages/years

Top of the shoulders and forearms would be other spots

Silk/Satin PJ bottoms do the trick ... prevents chafing and (apparently ) feels nice ... and comfortable.

Riding naked IS an option ... just not a good one (for you) ... but should you ever try it ... pic's ... please.

Mrs Max reckons I am the Barry White of NZ, a big fat fuker with a deep voice that makes her slide off the seat of her Vespa just thinking about it.

Anyway's, getting back to PB wearing nothing under her pants........

Mmmmm silky drawers sound rather fetching, although they might be more appropriate to prevent chafing of the kind of balls I don't have.... (Not going to be using my brothers well known quote in person any time soon!)

Crazy it might sound, but lightweight merino thermals do the trick - keep the summer heat out as well as the winter warmth in...
