Damaged helmet.

My partner had an off at the Wanganui Street Races where his helmet sustained a fair bit of damage. When we finally got home we threw the damaged helmet out with the rubbish waiting for the arrival of the wheelie bin company we are with to empty our wheelie bin.
I went out to the bin to put some more rubbish in it before it was emptied only to find that the damaged helmet had done a disappearing act.
I couldn't believe that someone had taken the helmet from the bin and I then wondered to myself What the Hell are they going to do with it as the visor was scratched all over and the helmet itself had 2 Huge Big chunks taken out of it.
The helmet was a Shoei and it sure did stand up to what it was suppose too with my partner not even sustaining any head injuries or concussion from the crash especially when his head hit the ground 1st. Good on you Shoei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would anyone take a damaged helmet?.

I like that idea... cut the straps, I have one that we don't use in the garage, that needs to be biffed, but no where near as bad as dukes man's ... but when it goes, so will the straps.

As for thieving wheely bin rubbish people, I always dispose of my rubbish out of view of the public .. then put it out... mind you I saw a guy walking along main street yesterday checking out rubbish bins, was kinda spooky, the guy was hungry or broke... lets hope your helmet does NOT end up on trademe Duke Girl!

Good idea about cutting straps. I have a sledgehammer for that purpose. Hard to use a helmet that has been cleaved (cloven?) in two.

Good advice, I wish we had of thought about that before throwing it out. If in future we have to get rid of another 1 (Kepping my fingers crossed we don't) then I will definately make sure that the straps are cut off it.

As for the helmet, my partner recently replaced his as he had dropped his old (actually quite new) one on the concrete floor in the garage. I have been thinking about giving the old one to my nephew to play with but was going to write on it "toy only! Not for safetly use" and also explain that to his parents.

But hmmm... might just remove the straps as well...
