Taupo International Medieval Jousting Tournament - Who's going?

Does that sound exciting or what!? I got the heads up this afternoon from a friend, so I think I'll be down for the weekend (23/24 Jan 2010) to check out the action...

She likes a jolly good jousting too.. Burlap sack with arm holes, and sandals for the girls is mandatory attire!

"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

I saw the advert for this on TV. The first thing that came to mind was "OSH are going to have a bloody ball with this!".

I have always thought that this would be a great spectator sport........................on motor bikes instead of horses. Probaly need a lot of safety features like a speed limit and safty gear. Given the publics appetite for crashes it would be a winner.

This is incredibly awesome. I wonder how much it costs to borrow someones horse & have a go?
And yea, motorbike jousting is the baddest (good) idea of 2010
Somewhat like this but more epic

when i was a kid, my mates dad used to be in these mock medievil (spelling?)battles. they had armour and pikes etc lying around their house. seen a few if these 'battles' around castles etc when i was a young un..........very very nerdy. each to their own. i suppose when u grow up with castles etc and surrounded by well.......historical sites it becomes normal. ive never seen jousting though.........sounds painful.

One of my riding buddies was telling me about it, and I couldn't quite believe my ears! Sounds like a laugh... I don't know about the motorbike jousts though; that could be rather painful!

Used to watch these in Upper Hutt.

Some of those guys get fuckin' hammered by each other. I approve greatly of the sport.

    Was a good day out.
