DB, your idea starts with Klingon having a machine to chuck linux on... after dealing with all the apparently trivial bits do you envisage her then hosting it from there, on the wonder that is NZ broadband? Or chucking it up on a $10/month server? If the latter why start anywhere else?

Yes, I will be doing that too. Thanks for the reminder. Things like facebook are great for advertising an event that has already been organised, but not so great for actually doing the organising! I'm hoping a forum will allow people from all over the world to offer ideas and then help make it happen.

I know! I turned my back on the thread for five minutes and it's erupted into a fight! It's like having a bunch of bored kids in the back of a car on a long journey.

"DON'T MAKE ME STOP THIS CAR! IF I HEAR ANOTHER WORD OUT OF YOU, YOU CAN ALL GET OUT AND WALK!"
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!

And here I was about to suggest Drupal as a nice, sexy alternative to PhPBB, also free and with so many plug in modules for Event planning and management, etc. With later versions it's even easy to install the stuff, but you do need to know your way around a few things when you get serious about it.

I'd be happy to help with any Drupal work, if you need a hand.

You can use the free google sites and documents - I use this on a number of colaborations. Easy - lots of features and the right price - free.
