Thumbs down Andrew Williams - Whinging Pom - Putting down NZ women & men

Feel free to spam this idiot Pommy git's blog about his recent trip to New Zealand:

    http://www.mensflair.com/news/though...comment-102602

    Taken from above link:

New Zealand is a country with so much to offer, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you visit it at least once. Indeed, my recent second visit left just as profound a mark as my first.

However, for all my admiration I think if I lived there I would go off my rocker. Firstly, I didn’t see one attractive woman – other than the one I took with me. Secondly, and most importantly, Kiwi men are utterly unrepentant in their desire to dress badly. Indeed, they almost revel in it.

Any kind of interest in clothing is viewed as effeminate. It was as though the last forty years in male clothing and grooming hadn’t happened. Something as common place in Europe as a pink shirt is viewed with the very greatest suspicion. I was even pilloried for deck shoes. It was considered great sport by my girlfriend’s family to get me to wear a pair of jandals (read flip-flops).

So what do I mean by badly dressed? For the most part I’m talking about a complete a lack of flair, care, quality and above all effort. The antipodean stereotype of stubbies (short short), singlet and work boots was all too common. But even going out to dinner it was not uncommon to see men in flip-flops. At best you’d see an excess of the purely mundane - poorly tailored jeans and uninspiring tops and trainers or work boots.

In some ways this is a factor of the outdoorsy, active lifestyle New Zealand provides. You’re not going to wear a linen suit on the beach, but there are ways to dress well and comfortably. Well tailored shorts and polo provides both comfort and, depending on colour and pattern, a degree of relaxed elegance, if done right. For the most part all I saw were men throwing on cheap, scruffy clothes without effort or care. Harmony of pattern and colour was for the most part absent.

Of course every country has its poorly dressed contingent, even in metropolitan centres. But for all the country’s natural beauty, even in the most cosmopolitan of NZ’s cities, I still couldn’t claim to have seen anyone I regarded as well dressed.
Post on this blog & tell him what you think guys!

He's right though. His attitude is that he is above us because he dresses in fancy clothes all the time - that sucks. What he doesn't get is that New Zealand is laid-back, and that when we believe the time calls for it, we can wear spiffy clothes if we feel like it. He looks like a poof in his photo anyway, and WTF... who wears 'deck' shoes.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

One of the best things about NZ is that people, generally, don't seem to get caught up in all that superficial crap (just one of the reasons we shifted from the UK) so as far as clothes go he's probably about right. As for the women, well that's in the eye of the beholder. I wouldn't get too upset over his comments. In a way it's a backwards compliment.

I will make a point of dressing badly if it keeps the "tied at the corners hanky on the head socks and sandals" plonkers like him off our shores! Come on you lot, do your bit! Oh and for what it was worth, I saw 2 drop dead gorgeous women today. The guy must be a fag!

Andrew Williams can get a hairy dog up him.... he sounds like a poof anyway

Edit: I've even got several pairs of chandals.... ranging from "around the section" to my good "going out" ones.

Some of the impeccably dressed English gentlemen he is refering to.
The last photo is of, would you believe, an antique book salesman. Photo is in my local in Portsmouth where the hardcore Pompey fans met either end of a match. I would love to take poncey boy there so he can make a comparison between Kiwis and English. The girls were of an interesting species as well.

I lokk at this dudes comments in two ways

    1) He is actually right. Kiwi's are, by in large, laid back, and most of the time that is a good thing.

    2) However, I was recently back in NZ for a month, and have to say, after living in central Europe for 4 years, there was plenty of scenes that made me "cringe" a little.

But, the cinic in me thinks that this "winging pom" was subjected to a bit of ridicule from both his Kiwi girlfriends family, and the public at large, and he is simply "getting his own back" via his computer.

    Small man.

Anyone who has spent any length of time in Europe will know that Europe is chock full of "pillow biters"

    Pink shirt indeed!

To be quite honest I'm glad he realises that we are not as superficial as to be constantly worrying about/spending time or money on our appearance and more interested in time doing fun stuff outdoors like riding bikes. You're not exactly going to wear a suit in the workshop while you're changing the bike oil. This seems to be admited in "In some ways this is a factor of the outdoorsy, active lifestyle New Zealand provides."

Some of the comments on Andrew "Whinging Pom's" blog are absolutely hilarious! My god - if you wanted to ruffle up some feathers, he certainly done that & is now getting what he deserved.

Good to some Kiwibiker's making remarks as well.

Makes me wonder how long it will be before the comments get removed.

There are a staggering amount of poorly dressed chavs and Kappa slappers in every town centre in the UK so he cant really talk. It does make NZers look a bit touchy and insecure when they get so wound up about anyone with anything negative to say about NZ.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..
