    Making a FXR bucket

    any one got any tips on making the FXR into a bucket while still keeping it road legal (for a while at least)??

    drill the sump bung, catch bottle and the best tyres you can afford. BT39's etc. Could end up being an issue if you are relying on it on moday for transport when it was crashed at the track on Sunday?


    Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.

    Nah, I do it all the time. That's what duct tape, knead-it and araldite are for!

    Having a spare commuter has it's advantages too though I guess....

    I have another couple of bikes which I can use so not that much of an issue. Just good having a bike that i can loan to people to learn on (my mrs included) and not give a shit if they drop it

    Lockwire, catch bottle and rip the plate and sidestand off. I've got those dodgy old slicks on my standard wheels if you still want to borow them. May pay to hit the headlight and taillight with duct tape. Definitely the tail light, brake lights are damned distracting.

    It's easy as to remove the lights and shit. We even leave the numberplate on... If you're real stuck and want to take the fairings off then you can always make a number board out of cardboard....

    How about wheels? - am thinking about getting some BT39's or putting some other rims on and getting some bigger tyres. - what sort of rims should i be looking at and how easily do they go on? - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=274761515 these fit for example?

    They could be made to fit. Usual conversion is with GSXR250 wheels, the change over is well understood and you can use the standard rear disk and sprocket carrier. I don't think anything is a straight swap. Any wheels you get wil likely require modification for bearings and some new spacers made.
    You can run slicks on the stock wheels (with tubes) or BT39s. I'll drag my stock rims with slicks along for you to try next meet if you like.

    What width tyre does a gsx250 come with stock ?

    The spada is fitted with 140 rear from factory, are slicks an option on this ?

    Yeah i will definately try the slicks out next meet. see how they go. I dont mind sticking with the stock rims, was just thinking about teh bigger rims as the stock ones are pretty skinny

    Plenty of guys going fast on slicks and stock rims. I've been beaten by them. Advantages of the wider rims are a nicer profile and no need to run tubes.

    But probaby not before he can outride the golden boys or similar that are on it at the moment. Especialy if it gets mildly damp at Mt Welly.
