    Hey guys Daniel here,

I haven't been for ages. So I'm most likely going to start coming along again in about 2 months, I see you've got a hornet now Alistair, good choice, too bad I don't have mine anymore!

So I'm looking at bikes with the intention of getting one in two months. Mainly looking at MC22 CBR250RRs, ZXR250cs, and also NC30 VFR400s and NC35 RVF400s, or maybe even a Ducati Monster 400. I started on an FXR150, a little bike that you can't really get into too much trouble on, and after I was completely comfortable with everything on that bike I went to a Hornet 250.

The Hornet was awesome and I got completely confident on that as well. So that's why I'm thinking of getting a 400 instead of sticking to a 250. I know that I'll pace myself in learning/testing the bike until I'm completely comfortable with it as I did with my other bikes. As for the legal side of things as I don't have my full, well I can still get insurance, and I don't think I'd be riding stupidly enough to get noticed.

And it's a 400, I'm not jumping up to a 600 or a 1000. So yea I just wondered what your guys thoughts on that idea were.

Hi Daniel, as it sounds like you're eligible or should be close to being eligible for the full license I personally wouldnt get hung up on the 250 restriction. Book in and make yourself legal as fast as you can, but buy the bike you really want (whatever size that may be)

Was a good turnout on Wednesday; plenty of new faces.

Hi Daniel, long time no see. My completely unbiased advice is to get a hornet 900, they rule.

Like Funrunna said, don't bother messing around with an overpriced 250 like the cbr or zxr. They're cool but not much different to the hornet 250. A ducati will be pretty pricey with regard to servicing and stuff but they do look cool. A modern 600cc cbr600/zx6/r6/gsxr600 is only about 30kgs heavier than the 250cc versions of the same model so you may as well get something like that because it'll last you longer and make for an easier resale.

To bet the cold, I wear a set of thermals under my bike gear. And then merino on the next layer.
And I have my winter liners in now. Feels like the michelan man.
But I am warm. Love that heat

Hope it is going to be a night for riding. Not sure of the weather forecast. Hope to see you all at the service station.

Compared to Monday and Tuesday, today is positively barmy; I'll probably turn up tonight in shorts, singlet and safety jandals. Of course, might have to meet y'all at 8pm at the carpark.

Glad to hear the battery is sorted Funrunna, and that your bike is now fixed nzspokes

    Thumbs up

Chickened out, wanted the big bike going so spent time in shed doing the fiddly bits.
Will be back soon, both of us.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
