I think I'll be meeting you all at the carpark after the first phase.
I think I'll be meeting you all at the carpark after the first phase.
I'll be at the beginning, minus pigs though.![]()
Yep, no pigs tonight.
Or Banana skins, oil etc. Not even rain.
A nice little pootle, followed by some practise in the carpark and a great little chat afterwards.
Thanks Everyone for your great company.![]()
OK ya'll, this is specifically for the law minded peops on KB...but all input welcome re this wee rant.
Scenario-this evening i walk into Clendon New World Manurewa, going in for miscellaneous goods of the munchy variety and in less than half a minute accosted by the ol chodja pseudo security guy (who despises me from a previous 'incident') who has an issue with me and my medium sized back pack. Ignoring him i continued grabbing my stuff and head to the counter, meanwhile old guys grabbed the younger security dude, who follows me and tries to cite store policy-which is...check the pack with them i.e leave it with them at the unattended front counter (no way in goddam hell-fricken thieves the lot of them) or leave it on the bike (its Clendon Rewa at night no goddam way am i doing that as it'll be gone the minute my backs turned). I respond that they can do a bag search before i exit as the whole policy and exercise is geared toward nabbing shoplifters - thieves. Anyhoo, they're not having a bar of it and want my bag pronto...i refuse and argue the points..ie breach of civil liberties citing unreasonable search, that i resent the inference and presumption that i am a criminal because I’m dressed in my bike gears (carrying helmet) with pack in tow, cite the guard (old fart) having a personal vendetta and so being discriminatory, cite harassment and the inconsistent application of store policy relating to bags. They claim to have notices up at the entrance and inside the store-they do but it relates to hoodies and school bags? Being that I’m in my thirties, i don't have a school bag but a small riding pack. They target me for my back pack but not the countless women (yes i am a lady biker to) with fricken handbags bigger than mine, people with baby bags and buggies walking past the whole fracas. SO...belabouring the point gets me REFUSED service and or custom AND 'verbally trespassed' supposedly, from my local New World; young security guy unable to handle me and my big words calls police who fob him off, i take down details (manager, guards, witnesses, time) and am highly agitated by the whole ridiculous situation. Complying with the guards request but under duress, i gap it home to ring the cops, who tell me the verbal trespass is a legally grey area as the wording is vague and open to spurious interpretation, being that security dude didn't take down any details-silly male just wanted the argumentative female to leave. I left when asked but seeing as I’m a bitch on wheels, literally, am going to do a number on this one. Approach the owner as well as the Regional Manager of NW Enterprises, Human Rights Commission, seek Legal Advice and make this plea.
S.O.S to ALL bikers within koowie of this establishment...i heartily encourage y'all to pay a friendly visit to said supermarket sporting a back pack...would luv to see them handle a fricken store full of bikers with flippen back packs...num nut organisation, they have fussed with the wrong bloody female goddam them! Though i realise this is basically a storm in a teacup and that I’m ranting, i am just so mad, i take this as a personal affront. Guard told me i didn't need to shop there and that i needn't come back...idiot. It’s the closest supermarket with 1km of home, I’m a local and have shopped there 20 plus years. I've even gone in with a pack when in non bike clothes and there's never been a problem, so WTF man? Has anyone else had this happen to them or have a legal background they can draw on to elucidate...![]()
I reckon Sis! And remember to post a guard with the bikes, Sarf Dorkland ya know!
You can count us in Sis, that's four already all with back packs split up and confuse the shit outa them thar security ( JOKE) types.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Just read this. Very rough area. I live very close to the supermarket. I have once locked myself in the car while 2 gangs had a fight around the car. Called cops and they were "we will let it disperse". Police station is across the road.
i dont take my kids down there when I have them. Ive been stood up for money and got yelled at for wearing a red tee shirt.
Thats a bit rough Maggy. But there are way better supermarkets around.
Food for Thought.
I can understand your frutration, Maggie. We'll have a chat this Wednesday and see what we can do.
By the way, I use South Mall New World now. I find that pleasant and there are no security guards. Well, not that I have noticed.
I really enjoyed last week Sis. Getting better feel for my bike on the slow stuff.
If you can slow ride confidentally - everything else is a breeze. Well almost.
I liked your tip on the handlebars and levers setting- that when you are sitting on your bike, you shouldn't be able to see you brake and clutch levers. Then they are in the correct place. And you don't have to lift your fingers over them. It all helps.
I have the flu but will still be at SASS, maybe in a car. I am on antibiotics and can't breath thru my nose so riding will only inflame my sinus headache.
And I don't plan on wearing my slippers, unlike some.
We may have some guests from Prorider joining us tomorrow. Would be great if as many of you as possible could make it.
If its windy like tonight it could be interesting.![]()
I've been home from school for the last two days with labyrinthitis (land seasickness!) but am hoping to make it tomorrow night. Weather was pretty hairy today, even the car was being pushed around! Hopefully will be better tomorrow night.
p.s. what time at the carpark at Manukau? (and is it still meet 7pm at the Shell on clevedon rd? obviously been quite a while since i've been on a SASS ride...)
Look forward to catching up with you.
We hope to be at the carpark by 8 pm and yes we are still meeting at the Clevedon Road Service Station in Papakura (for now as there is pressure to move to Takanini)
i will be there as long as the wind dies a bit.
