    Lol thank you!

I have been having an argument with myself about that exact same thing. The issue that I have is that I am 6 5 and about 130-mumble (on a good day) kgs, and I was out today and just don't fit on any 250's. My commute is from 'rewa into the city and I have to be comfortable. I am not the sort of person that has 2 speeds on the throttle (off and full-tit), and think I have the self control to handle something slightly bigger. I am not looking at a 'busa but something around the 600cc mark.

BTW I got your pvt message, but due to me being such a newb I can't reply. I DO understand what you said in it though, it was my thoughts all along, I just didn't word the posting correctly!

Pretty grubby weather tonight. I'll turn up at Drury but if it's raining at 7pm then we may have to call it eh?

I won't be there tonight - have to take hubby to airport at 7.30 (then was thinking of heading over to Penrose for the BRONZ AGM.....if the weather's not too crappy).

p.s welcome to kb and biking peetah. We;re in Manure-wa if you want to do any rides on the weekend etc. (nana rider here).

    Thank you Princess...

One day soon I might take you up on the offer. Right now I'm just mudding myself at the thought of being on a bike for a period of time! Good weathered Saturday morning rides might just be the thing to allow SWMBO to get some sleep after a Friday-night night shift.

    Don't bother coming out tonight.

I will pop over to the gathering points in my car, just in case someone has come out tonight.

Then I plan on checking out venues (pubs/cafes) that are open on a Wednesday night that might be helpful in being able to show dvds. The idea is that on evenings like this we turn up at chosen venue in whatever transport, to sit in a warm dry room, with our chosen drinks, watching dvds of such things as The Dragon's Tail or Isle of Man TT etc. A bit of theory . And a good laugh at other people's mistakes.
If you know of a place in Manukau ( cos its handy to everyone) please let me know

Apologies from Ratbag, I put the Kibosh on her going out tonight, too bloody risky in the dark and rain for a newbie. But i'lm sure she will be back next week.
i'm a ways off with the bike being rebuilt but one day, not too far away i'll manage to get there.Good idea about the venues Sis.

Couldn't make it last night, but it seems like it didn't really matter anyway.

Seems I've been coming too often anyway. All the braking practice has taken it's toll on the Wee Blue Strom. Had it in for a service today and the front pads didn't pass muster.

    Have a good week

    Braking practice.....sure........hahahaha
Funnily enough my pads were fine when the bandit had it's 30k service yesterday (but then my emergency braking practice didn't look quite as impressive as yours)

It's probably not all down to SASS - I don't know how much they had on them when I bought the bike back in January, but I've put almost 8,000 K on it since then.

Welcome to the group. Look forward to meeting you at SASS sometime.

I can see why you'd be struggling on a 250. I've just got myself a DL650 VStrom after a 20 year break and I think it will come down to the style of bike you choose. Even at your height my advice would be to go with something reasonably compact (i.e. not tall like the DL). It is much easier to learn low speed control on a shorter bike where you get better leverage from your legs.

    Anyway, that's my $0.02 worth.

Yeah that sounds good Sis. At the moment the weather is too bloody variable, having a plan B like this would be nice.

On a completely unrelated subject; come summertime we should all head out for a track day at Hampton Downs too.

Looks like it should be on for tomorrow night. Hope I don't jinx it.

I couldn't find any suitable venues but since then have noticed that The Bog seems to be back in business. I suggest we try that tomorrow after car park skills.

The Bog is now called O'Ryans and is under new management. They are very ameniable and welcomed us with open arms. They are only too happy to have us there on a wet evening and will let us play our dvds. If there are other events on, we can use a private room. Otherwise we just remain in the bar and watch on the big screen They talked of supplying nibbles too.
And we had easy parking under cover, right opposite the main doors.

I can see us in summer having a lovely time out on the deck. But for winter, it was lovely and warm indoors beside the fire (there is one outside as well)

This venue is excellent and really suits our needs. We could easily make it our very own if enough of us "move in" as their patronage is on the small side at the moment. They do meals and are prepared to keep the cook on late if there is a need.

I feel very satisfied with this venue and think that SASS is really up and rolling now.

Was another good SASS session tonight eh. We found a really steep uphill carpark ramp near our carpark-skills area that we can practise hill-starts on.

Like Sis said, O'Ryans is a new bar and they're keen to bend-over backwards to get some regulars in there.
