I've logged hundreds of hours in X-Plane, and flown several light aircraft (including a stunt plane!). Don't have my lisence yet, been planning for that for a while, but then I bought a bike.. Now I have to decided what next year will be - racing or flying... where's that lotto ticket gone......??

Yes to both questions. Although I'm a pro at neither and haven't flown 'proper' since early last year - so I'd need to build up my hours again before I could fly solo again - I think.

I'm a big FS fan and own all of them (geek!), and various mesh terrain CD's for the UK, oh and Voice Buddy, a motion Tracker, Saitek joystick etc.

Dangerous has the mesh terrain for NZ I believe. He's been promising me a copy for ages. Where is it D?

Flight Simulator sucks hugely. Take off, fly around, land, yawn. No amount of "realistic scenery" and cockpit effects help. Yawn.

Now combat flight simulator games, particularly those involving WWII fighters: Different story altogether. God knows how many hundred hours I have on different fighters. I'm still madly in love with the F4U Corsair...

They had Corsairs (or was it one?) at the recent Blenheim Air Show - mmmmmmmm. I have video footage of their low flying runs over the field too. Bootiful.

hitcher - some simulators have amazingly real scenery (have a look at the Xplane link), plus there's 'missions' to complete, and you have a huge range of aircraft to do all sorts of stuff..

And Frosty, I'd be happy to get out and do it for real - wanna pay for me to do it? I'll fly you around for free if ya did! I'd also fly gliders too..

The F4U1A - my very favouritist aeroplane - fascinating cockpits - no floor so you can stand up in the cockpit with the canopy closed (well, I could).
The one at Blenheim is the only surviving fully intact, airworthy ex RNZAF Corsair, (an FG1-D) from the 380 odd the RNZAF used to have.

I like CFS2 best - got heaps of extra planes, scenery, missions etc.
Il2 is good. I only enjoy the flight sims, with Lockheed Constellations and things , or trying to aerobat 767's

For an example of this, go to Wellington Airport. It's a tarmac strip on grass, with one or two trees scattered about, thats pretty much it

FS2001 edit(2000 >_<)... many hours and a gazzillion plane packs to go with it... Favourite plane is the SU37 berkut and P51D.. good fun.

I have flown: takeoff and landing a cessna 172RS on my one and only flight about 2 months ago. I'm also hoping to get my pilots liscence in the semester breaks for uni and go on to be proffessional Hard work and a big hole in the pocket/bank though.
