There were a lot of immigrant Poms in those days,they were taking over our Unions and running the country down with strikes like they did in their own country.There was a bit of resentment,and jokes like ''How do you get 20 Poms into a Mini? - make one the foremen and the rest will crawl up his arse.'' They didn't fit into our workforce well.

Punch a Pom a Day was reported in England....and my brother was living there at the time.All the Kiwis drank at one pub in the area,and one night on his way home he was set upon by a group and had the shit beat out of him.His teeth were badly repaired on the National Health,and he got a better job done on them when he shifted to Canada.

When we decided to form a new soccer club in mid 80's we had one rule no poms,were sick of the accent at the time,but with age comes maturity,and met some bloody excellent pom soccer players who did their OE in the Naki around 1989-96.
