    FXR service manual?

    Is there such a thing? I have heard only myths. If so could I be linked/directed to where it could be found?

    Surely such a popular bike (in other countries anyway) would have a resource that is slightly more detailed than the user's manual. Exploded diagrams would be lovely.

    There is such a thing with detailed pictures and descriptions. I only had just returned one to its rightful owner after borrowing it for a week. As said in that last post definitely check out FXR.co.nz, we all either have one to commute on or race one, mainly the latter. Good luck with your search, they are out there.

    Search the interweb - occasionally there's one for sale somewhere. That's how I got mine. If there's something specific you want I'm happy to scan a page or two and add it to this thread http://www.fxr150.co.nz/discussion/v...ic.php?f=3&t=7 I'm not going to copy/scan the manual or whole chapters - don't have the time for that.
    Sometimes you wish it was easier, but if it was, everyone else would do it, then you remember you don't want to be like everybody else!

    I've tried to buy an FXR150 workshop service manual and can't find anyone able to sell one .

    I tried Haldanes (Suzuki dealer), motorbikeparts.co.nz and others.

    I'd like to borrow a manual for a few days if anyone has one. I'm in Auckland. Worth a slab of beer or a good wine.

    What is it you need to know? I've got mine in bits at the moment and to be honest the only info I needed for the pull down re-assemble is the cam timing and thats on the FXR website.
    They are pretty simple engines and if you've had a 4 stroke to bits in the past won't present any problems.

    I have bought a top-end gasket set and was going to go over the top end and check it all out - tolerances etc. I also like to check that I have all the parts in the right places when doing assembly and to use recommended torques etc. I intended to scan the manual for my own use until I come accross one to buy. I also plan to tidy up the castings for better carb input and exhaust output. I would also check valves and probably lightly grind them for a perfect seal if they needed it. Maybe I don't really need one for most of this but I just like to have a workshop or Haynes manual for my bikes

    I'm pretty sure the recommended torques are on the FXR site, I know the valve clearances are. As for getting the right parts in the right places there really aren't that many.
    I cleaned up the inlet port a little because it was pretty close anyway, I stayed away from the exhaust because I would have ended up doing major surgery and would throw the jtting out far enough that I'd need a dyno run to get it right again and I don't want to go down that road just yet.
    Did a grind on the valves and the clearances still seem OK.
    I understand the desire for a manual but have got to the stage where I pretty much only look at them for specs, you may not be such a random.

    Yes, I've had a few (like 2 or 3) 4-strokes and 2-strokes apart - mostly a long time ago (decades) . I did have a Haynes manual though!

    I'm rebuilding an XR400 head at the momment (my Christchurch trail ride bike - doing it myself - needs a new exhaust valve guide - at least) and had my CRF250R head rebuilt with new inlets valves recently (seats needed recutting which I did not attempt - I did just deliver the head). I have manuals for both .

    You know, you have just about convinced me that I don't need the FXR manual after all .

    I've seen nothing random about your approach and expertise with bikes - keen to have a chat about exhaust outlets and downpipe sizes now that I have a bigger carb (XR) . Maybe at the next Mt Wellington meeting though that seems so far away and I'm tempted to take out any exhaust restrictions before then (just bought a welder!). The new carb seems much more powerful but only tested it "around the block" .
