    Gpz 750

My brother in law has a '82 GPZ750 in many pieces. He is doing a full restoration and wonders how the ignition system works...is it CDI? seems it uses points/mechanical but we need all relevent details regarding the ignition so he can make some important decisions...any one out there got one of these beasts or done one up?the whole loom is being replaced and all wiring is a total mess...he needs to know how to get it all going properly and his workshop manual copy is a little hard to read on the useful pages! he has only this web access and lets me do the typing 'cause he cant!I have no idea what he's on about 'cause electronics are beyond me...

The 82 models were points ignition, not CDI.

CDI appeared on the 83 model (the one with the swoopy bodywork and idiot light cluster atop the tank).

Wiring the 82 should pose no problem to an auto electrician, but it might be worth getting a wrecker to do a search for a complete loom. The Z750 is the same, and I suspect the 1000, 1100 and 550 models were also the same.
