Are you sure you can't find somewhere better to ride this weekend? The Peninsula is totally chokka with tourist vans and people towing boats. I've just got back from Port Charles and even up there, on the dirt, there was heaps of traffic. If you do come, watch out for 4 wheelers cutting corners, driving standards are diabolical at present.

Yup, we took all the back roads to kopu but turned around at Tairua due to downpour.
Took the backroads back to east auckland and helped an old chap on a 50's BSA two stroke on the way.
