That ''I didnt do nothing'' really means you did do something because you cant not do nothing.

What should be said is ''I did nothing''.

It's nice to see Australians gradually succumbing to the region's dominant culture.

    Reilly - ESPN:

    My English-to-Texan dictionary:
Are you doubting that Colt McCoy is a fine quarterback? = You think ol' Colt cain't play?
Absolutely he can = Hail he cain't!
You should consider attending = You prolly orta go.
You and your friends would do well to consider attending = All y'all prolly orta go.
Perhaps we should do that = We might could.
You and your friends probably shouldn't have hijacked the Sooner Schooner = All y'all prolly ort not a stolt the Schooner.
Since you and your friends each own very slow boats, is it possible to transport everybody at once on them? = Can all y'all's trawls haul all y'all?

    Actually...

I didn't do nothing can be seen as just language evolution to what it actually once was... Before and during the middle ages even, "double negatives" just reinforced the idea of negativity.

"He nevere yet no vileynye ne sayde" is an example of even a triple negative, which just emphasises it.

Just look at languages older than ours such as French, which use "double negatives" with the use of ne...pas.

The double negative in English was lost due to the mathematical thinking of to negatives make a positive, but why would you think mathematically when dealing with a language??

It's hard to point out wrongs and rights in languages when they are under constant change, all we can have is current ideals and opinions.
