The extra heat sounds like you might be running slightly leaner. What does the inside tip of the exhaust look like?
Don't worry about the sound, mine (and my mate's bikes) now do the same. It's just that now it's louder, you notice more.

The exhaust is slighty blacker than I remember it being but despite popular Honda myth, I don't have an unhealthy interest in my exhaust pipe so can't say for sure.
Come to think of it, it does sound like my mates 636 at idle too. Sounds meaner for sure.
