Power loss when riding in the rain

    Hi guys,
On my ride home from work today I ran into some bike problems after encountering some light rain.

I had been riding/splitting for 20 minutes on Auckland's congested southern motorway when I ran into a little bit of rain. After only a minute or so the bike started losing power and was generally unpleasant to ride the rest of the way home. The bike actually stalled whilst waiting at a set of traffic lights and it was difficult to restart. The rain was light and the ambient temperature did not drop by much at all.

Made it home, waited for a couple of hours and tested it again and it's now fine. This has only been the 2nd time I've ridden in the rain and it happened the other time too.

So, I'm guessing it's an electrical problem. What should I do to try and fix this?

I've googled this problem and some people recommend taping or greasing up the HT and coil leads as the rubber boots aren't waterproof. Also, silicone spray on all the exposed connections like kickstand switch, regulator/recitifer, earth connections etc.

    Any ideas?

Yeah its quite likely HT leads. If the problem is water down the plug tubes, then yeah try some silicone sealer or similar around the boots.

Do the plug holes have drains? If so, maybe they are blocked.
