I understand that it's internal Green party policy for all MPs to be drug free, and having met a few of them, they are definitely straight and certainly not pissheads.

Policy is one thing. Reality is another. Human nature being what it is I find it difficult to believe that as a group, the Greens are any different when it comes to bending rules when it suits them.

What you can safely claim is that they were straight and not pissed when you met them... Probably.

I think you underestimate their committment to their jobs. They made a collective decision to go drug free and I see no reason not to believe that they are following that commitment as they are all intelligent, focussed and hard working men and women.

But it goes against the stereotypes, and that's a bummer. I know a few stereotypes about bikers - do they apply to you?

I am (in this case) not attacking them or their commitment. What I am saying is that humans are far from perfect and statistically speaking there is a good chance that no matter what they have said publicly, some of them will not Honor that commitment.

So do I - I think it confuses them.

I agree, it is possible that they could go against their word, but having met most of the Green MPs I was impressed at their integrity and committment to standing by their principles, and they didn't strike me as people who would smoke (BTW I enjoy the herb on occassions). I could have been wrong, but it would seem that the probability of Green MPs being marijuana users is very low.

And the reason we don't have the same argument about Labour and National is because there isn't a stereotype about them being druggies and stoners - something that came from Nandor Tacoz being in parliament and having the honesty to admit he used cannabis as part of his religion. Personally I prefer a religion that involves burning petrol to one that involves burning cannabis, but it's a free world.

I've been looking at changing jobs/career paths to increase my income....I reckon I should be an MP too....I've got more skills/life experience than Gareth...I could be on to a winner here....

Sorry yungatart we can't justify employing a person that is to highly skilled for the job!
