I hear what you're saying, and always respect the opinion of a more experienced biker, which is why I want to find a nice bit of "legal" land area to practice on. As for wrecking my bike...... I reckon very slow and steady practice with proper gear will go a long way to preventing any heartache.
dude... once you DO learn you'll be a massive hoon showing off your skillz to anyone who'll look. Nothing to be ashamed about until you bin it. Then its just funny.
Use a mates bike... and get a spare chain.
And if you insist on popping standups past cops, make sure there is a median barrier between you and them... much more satisfying that way, knowing the U turn will be a long time coming.
TGA Harbour bridge has just such a barrier, and Matt and the boys at MAKZ Gear will wave from his shop door (or call the cops laughing) as you ride over... New Years was so much fun! I'm gonna miss NZ and its mostly unarmed cops. Oz and California are going to be the death of me I think.

Damn ive been thinking of this for ages, and only just....afterlike 3 years of joining this forum i discovered there is a stunt subthread.
anyways your point on practicing on a mates bike i totaly agree, but a mate wont be happy, so i was thinking since there a tonne of bike schools, is there such place to teach you it? on their own bikes?
honestly, i dont want to wreck my bike. and its tricky with mine. its a 125. honda NXR, so its a road going dirt bike. i can get it up from stationary at the lights in first gear, but it just lacks power and drops back down again.
or maybe i dont know what to do next. but yeah id really like to learn how to do wheelies on the move and keep it up.
theres a guy doing it so easily on my bike....well not MY bike, but you know.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0BHgsVmobo
it dosnt happen so easily when i tried.
so anyone know who i can find to help me get it up? (the bike i mean hahahaha :P)
sorry dont mean to steal the thread by the way
haha wow man nice pics, that stoppie is just epic.
yeah its just fear really, that all my weight on the back pegs is just gonna make it go over the back.
i should just practice in my street slowly going higher and higher, but i dont wana ruin the clutch or go over the back yeah..... or both..
since ive never done a "proper" one, would be nice to do it with someone who knows the stuff near by. in aucks i should say.
but i agree, really great bike. i love mine.
Dont bother with the clutch, i never did.
20-25m was the best i could get out of the NXR.
Using a hill and going uphill is a good idea
Nowhere - it'd probably be deemed to be "loss of traction" which you can't even do up your own driveway. Not that I've done it, but my son did!![]()
Atleast someone told him how to practice properly, ( kruzah ). Lol at people saying do stand ups using both pillion pegs without a handbrake, itl only end in tears... and a munted bike.
Peeps stunt out drz 125's, nxr might be higher geared for the road but if you practice enough you will get it.
Well thats what ive found atleast.
