The way i read this reg is that if they are wire spoke type or cast type they are ok. The rules state a dimension limit on the lower and upper scale but dont stipulate age requirments as such.
Peroid is a bit of a moot point as the wheels used in the day were round and as far as i can work out are still round.
Age catagory for the bike is dictated by the " newest major component" which is basically , frame, motor casings , swingarm, gearbox. So the wheels are not date sensitive that i can work out.

Anybody here dissagree with that interpretation ????

thats why there is only the tail on the bike, i thought about putting the front fairings on but then the may say that can help with the aerodynamics. as far as i can see unless im crossing the line backwards (i wouldn't rule that out either) it is of no advantage what so ever.

That was Neils argument and he got told , "take it off or loose the points" so he had no choice. Its a crock of shit but im sure thats been discussed more than to death by now.

Well to be totally honest there Frenchy, it really made stuff all difference to the Aerodynamics / top speed/ Lap times on the 450.
Why there is a consistent 3 second difference on some of the Lap Time sheets for any given day was because we used to run a GPRa10 in Posties, and a slick in F3. This is because we needed to save the slick.
Also, there was no need for Neil to beat his brother by a huge margin in posties, so i used to have to slow him down.

It all worked, as the trophy cabinet says so.....

Anyhow, welcome to postie Racing, half of it is a mind game, and as Paul says, the fairing issue has been done well to death.
We will all get on, if the bits of fibreglass are replicas of the plastic fairings that came off the bike originally......
Well, all you really have to do is make it look like a Teapot, and nobody will question where the fairings came from.... Could go as late as 1998!

While fiberglass was available back in 89 so what if i make my own fairings from scratch no moulds of late model bikes??

Rules are rules, and rules say fairings must look like they belong in the class period, whether they are taken from actual fairing moulds wont change the fact that thye look like late model gixxer fairings.

Its less about actual benefits of the bodywork, and more about the spirit of the class. Otherwise, the entire pre89 class would look like a slow arse version of F1. Still slower, but uglier as well, haha. Bottom line is, if you want to race in the spirit of the pre89 class, get some ugly fairings, otherwise any NZPCRA event you do, you'll get grief, which I think is a good thing for the class.

As everyone has said, this has been done to death, and Neil is now using old fairings on his bike, so obviously one person didnt think it was worth the hassle.
