    How's this for miscommunication!

Ok...I was out for a walk tonight around 9.30pm was on my way home and got a hell of a fright when this dog started going hell for leather at me through the fence. I didnt think much of it til it bounded over the fence and bit me on the upper region of the back of my thigh, no not my butt but close! Anyway I hit its nose and yelled at it, it stopped and just faced the fence wanting to get back in thank god! I whimper away backwards keeping a bloody good eye on it, my good neighbours were outside so called in to tell them what had happened, good ole meanie (neighbour) poured me a well sought after black russian! Anyhoo he rings the police to tell them I got bit and that the dog is still loose, police say ok we will get a hold of dog control and send an ambo out. I get on and say dont send an ambo out, skin was not broken and I dont need it. Hang up phone and down half a glass of black russian.
Phone rings, it is the ambo dispatch saying that they are outside around the corner but will not come in til police come out and give the all clear that the dog has been captured. Ok I say...hang up and then phone rings again...it is animal control asking where the dog is I tell him where, then he asks did the dog bite you? I replied -no it tried to! (does it count as a bite if the skin didnt get broken?) He says ok so its just an aggressive dog! Umm yes of course its an aggressive dog! Why would I be talking to you if it was a nice dog? He says - ok we will try and get this dog back to its property and then hangs up.
Half an hour goes by and I think ok the ambo is still out there waiting...I walk towards it to tell them to go cause I dont need them and I get within five metres of it and it takes off! At the time I just thought they had gotten another call and had to leave.
Head home...just think about heading off to bed an hour later and theres a knock at the door...kind neighbour again with mr policeman. I explain what happened...he takes down my details and then asks what happened with the ambo? I said the ambo was out there for half an hour and as I approached they took off. He then asks if I still need the ambo...I reply very firmly no. Ok he says then grabs his walkie talkie and says to whoever is on the other end.....flag the ambulance it is not needed. He then leaves.
    Ok sorted!
    No not yet!!
Twenty mins later the ambulance turns up our driveway! WTF????
Guy gets out and I said "what are you doing here?"
he replied " Are you the woman who got bitten by the dog?"
I said "yes but have you not been told you were not needed?"
    he replied "No"
then I explained what had happened...and he explained that he was sitting outside but got the call to go back to base because the police were not going to make it out for a while...hence the reason he left.
The ambo's got told by the police that there was a brutal mauling and blood everywhere! WTF???
Obviously this is not the case!
How does it get from "I am fine but we are concerned that the dog is out and could go for someone else" to "brutal mauling blood everywhere?"
So that was my night......how was yours???
Its all good when its green

Poor ambo guys and girls having to waste time, bet they where worried too.
Poor Mrs Cowboys for the shock of the bite from the little arsed dog!

Then again after what's gone on in NZ over the last few days... maybe they called the Ambo for the dog... or its owner

Mine was better than yours, as T & I were at AC/DC.

I hope you're feeling better and glad it wasn't a serious bite.

I know first hand how these things get misconstrued. I had a mishap while playing with my own dog and consequently lost my thumb nail. Complete accident (my fault) and thought all was ok until I received a letter from ACC in regards to getting counseling for my dog bite "WTF". I don't think ACC have an accident category involving dogs, teeth and injury.

Being a Postie I am quite skilled at dealing with aggressive dogs.

A rolled up SkyWatch smack on the end of the nose ususally does it and failing that a rolled up EasyBuy up the arse will resolve any further issues.

Definetly report the dog and the bite, what would have happened if you'd been a kid who didn't hit it on the nose and yell at it?

I am very glad that you are all right. The sad thing for me as a dog lover is, that the Dog needs to be put down. Or at the very least taken off that owner and retrained, out of the aggression and territorial behaviour. Next time it could be a kid.

A few years back ,friend of mine had her mail delivery stopped because her dog kept biting the posties bike tyres. After conversation in smoko room of posties, it transpired that the previous postie always gave dog a biscuit. Baxter was trying to stop the bike for his biscuit

Hey yes that is so annoying.

Posties have a hotline to the council dog ranger. I never used to bother reporting dogs as I was happy to take them on with a magazine or crush them with my bike, but after a talk with the dog ranger I started reporting all overly aggressive dogs.

That's it Mrs C. You just need to go walking with a "Mint Slice" in the future.

edit: You didn't by any chance sit on a "Mint Slice" that cowboyz left lying about and not realise it was stuck to you? That would make it his fault!

Looks like you failed the taste test Mrs C.

Seriously, not a nice experience for you but it pales by comparison to the rest of your story!

What if you had suffered a really vicious and damaging attack from the dog?

Yes I am guessing that whats happened just recently has caused them to have tunnel vision a little and go a little overboard and not listen to whats being said.

Thanks...I am a dog lover as well and really would not like it put down but if that is to be the case then that is the way it will be...I for one would not like to be responsible for another little toddler getting mauled for sure.
