Any builders or designers out there?

Needing some help from a builder or the like.

Im designing a deck - hopefully starting next weekend.

I am looking at 200 x 50 bearers (one bolted each side of the post). I am trying to establish the maximum span between post.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

I think it's around 3m joist ways (the way the joist goes) 2m bearer ways for a bearer of that size.

I would check with the supplier of the wood

If both sides of the post I would think 3M would be fine but much closer for the joists which would depend on the decking

    This may help http://www.ideas-for-deck-designs.co...oist_span.html

the relationship between piles and bearers and joists is a 3 way thing...the size of the bearers depends upon the span of the joist and the spacing of the piles. The size of the bearers can often be governed by how high the deck is off the ground,ie if you have a typical house about 500 of the ground it only takes a 200 joist and a 200 bearer(with a drop from floor ,plus the thickness of the decking and you can be back to ground level. The size of the joists is goverened by their spacing and span, the spacing of joists can be influenced by the type of decking.....
    I need more info.

So what's the bearer size if the joist span is 3meters and bearer span is 2.
