    I am so sorry

This is an apolgy to the wonderful world of lady bikers.

I was outside Auckland museum today and there was a beautiful BSA Bantam (1961) I had to remark to the 'owner' what a wonderful machine it was. He said "thanks but it's hers". I inwardly collapsed how crass of me to make such an idiotic assumption.

And so as I type this on bended knee (on broken glass) I crave your forgiveness (all of you)

OK I'm off to eat some humble pie.

Guys to make me feel better have you done worse?

Mr KiWiP, the important thing is, did you apologise to the lovely owner?

So maybe from now on you could assume that all bikes are owned/ridden by a fair lady. You may not make any blokey mates, but, even better, the girls will respect you.

    Nice post too
(don't fall too hard on your sword hun)

Not related to vehicles but once remarked to someone while a guest in their house that I thought the painting on the wall was something to the effects of "Your daughter has a great eye for artwork" to which I later found out it wasn't the daughter who did the painting....

    1961 classic BSA Bantam eh!

I would say that 99 times out of 100 your assumption would have been correct.

I don't know of a single female who has ever owned a 50+ year old enthusiasts vehicle.

AND there are heaps of guys who ride girlie bikes on KB, so why not the otherway around?

I used to get pissed off when hubby and I would go places with my bucket or go to get parts for it and people automatically would assume it was his bike or he was the one who does the work on it and talk to him about things to do to it etc. It cracks me up now because when people do that now I just walk off and then he tells them that it's actually mine so they're talking to the wrong person.

I learnt to ride on my Mum's Bantam when I was 12! I know where it is but the lady who owns it will never part with it....

It happens in our house lots, but the other way around. "Damn nice scones, thanks!"... "...points at the kitchen bitch - tell him then.."

Same thing again if I'm riding my wifes' big black shiney loud naked vtwin.. ah yea its my mrs bike..

Humble pie not necessary. I find it a bit of a chuckle, and it's clear they are far more uncomfortable that I.

I used to get this all the time on my 74 Bonnie.

Now I get it even more. My partner has a 96 Speed Triple I have have a 09. Most people seem to think it is the other way round.

Always fun to fuck with their heads for a while before putting them straight!!!.

OMG I got the rims of my bros painted pink and there is still confusion... I rode it to work and a guy asked "Why would a guy want to paint his rims pinK?" ....Honestly if jumping to conclusions was a sport.

Lol. I think that society is still isn't ready for Girls doing Tom Boy stuff. I still get a giggle at the "looks" I get at times. Even when I took my bike to my other job on Friday (Stock Cars).
Now I really am a Bonnie girl
