    Froggys BRM Rnd 2 Clubmans

With over 1100 posts on KB, this is my first race report - exciting stuff this racing caper, im hooked!

    Saturday.
Went out for two sessions on the Speed Triple, was a hot day and had traction coming out of my ears. By the end of session 2 the stopwatch in pit lane was telling me that i was consistently in the high 20s to low 21s. Was real happy with a recorded new pb of 1.20.56. I know that is patheticaly slow for a litre bike, but i am just a green horn. Taking a look at my tires i decided to park the triumph up for the day and conserve rubber for Sundays racing. Still got in a heap of track time over the afternoon though, went out and had a play on my stepfathers kawasaki a7 avenger, got to do a few laps on Vince Burrells moto guzzi then went and "scrubbed in" the tires on the triumph street triple that my aunty had bought only 24hrs previous.

    Sunday.
I was quietly gald to see that the pro twins would be starting on the grid ahead of us in clubmans, some of those guys scared the crap out of me in Taupo.
Qualifying: Not looking foward to my first wet track experience i exited pit lane last and freaking out. After one lap i realised that there were some dryish options out there and relaxed into it and had a lot of fun. In the end i qualified 5th in clubmans with a 1.33
Race 1: Went out expecting more of the same, not so - all of those dryish patches were now wet. During the warm up lap it became painfully obvious that my supercorsas were not going to be much chop in this race. I got a good jump off the start, but lit up the rear in a big way hooking second. Just as i was starting to trust my tires again i had the front lock up braking into higgins, only luck kept me on the track. In the end i finished 6th, and was quite happy with the result all things considered.
Race 2: Definatley a wet track again. Still very mindful of my earlier problems caused by street tires i got a much better start and was about to congradulate myself for getting to the first corner 3rd when Jonathan Hoy shot past at what seemed unbelievable speeds. Oh well, 4th into first corner isnt too bad. Plenty of minor slides but no real moments during the race. Was quite suprised to hear that i had taken forth place when i got back in.

Thanks heaps to Nigel and the PMCC for a great weekend. See you all at Taupo.

sounds like you had a good weekend. I can only imagine how slippery it was on a big bike as i was having enough trouble keeping the rg vertical.
