    Adjusting chain advice

My chain needs tightening, there's more than 40mm of play, perhaps as much as 50mm. The swing arm (think that's what it's called) has markings on it to ensure the rear wheel is aligned with the front wheel, so the question is, is that good enough or is there some sort of 'go faster' equipment I need to do the job correctly? I've just bought a torque wrench to re tighten the rear wheel, and is it best on the side stand or the paddock stand?. Any tips gratefully accepted.

Side stand is fine as are the markings, just watch that after you have it adjusted that as you do up the axle nut that the chain doesnt tighten to much.Tl1000s as i have are famous for it.Annoying.As for play 25-35 mm is about right.

Theres an easy way to do it, as usual.

Locate the adjusters and set them so theres no slack. Loosen the axle nut just a turn, and tighten each side adjuster just a half turn each, and then tighten the axle nut. Now recheck the chain tension.

Don't try to adjust the tensioners repeatedly to "get it right". You will overshoot it for sure, and then its a cunt of a job.
