Going by the size of those builders it would have to be Japan...........or Lilliput.

I would be very careful! In those pics it appears the builders have put the floor 90 degrees out of level! Be OK when you are leaning up against the wall but any other time could be dodgy esp using the crapper!

but what do you builder types think of the style of construction

it looks braced in X and Y

All wood ,,, but with brick cladding

    Laser cutting wood?

    Somehow that sounds "dangerous".

(Or was that just the steel bits...?)

I think you've got it worngA - I think it's just that his camera is broken and can only take sideways photos. It would explain why the elves in one of the photos are sideways (unless of course, they're special sideways elves designed for working on walls. (Those Japs are clever making weird things like that. Probably summat to do with sideways procreation...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Sure hope you don't get earthquakes where you are - don't think it looks too strong. That's why in NZ we use steel bracing. And not many of our houses fall down when the earth moves..... unless they are 100 years old

Felt that here in Taiwan as well, books were shaking on the shelves a bit and my computer chair was rolling around a bit with me on it.

Some of my favorite TV shows here in Taiwan are from Japan actually. One is they go in and completely gut and fix old homes. Granted I don't understand a word of the Japanese but it's got Chinese subtitles so I can practice, and well, look at how construction is done there.

You guys plan to do the interior yourselves or hire an interior designer?
