Correct octane rating for 2008 Honda 50 City-Dio 2 Stroke?

Just scored the Mrs the 50 for 5 hundie , only got 500 k's on the clock we both happy campers, anyway whats the factory recommendations please for fuel octane ?

(Guy at scooter shop that sells chinese scooters said to the Mrs to always run it on 91, I've always run my 2 strokers on 95 or 98. )

Dont worry about the octane to much, The gull blended 100 octane can cause problems with rubber and absorbing water, but that could be myth?
Using fully synthetic oil is probably more important. They only use about 1ltr to a thousand K's.

Most common here in Taiwan are 92, 95 and 98. My wife has a little 50 cc (not sure if it's 2 or 4 stroke) and she puts 92 in it. My bike for some reason I've never understood (granted I'm not knowledgeable about bikes and whatnot) only works well with 92, tried 95 once and it wasn't quite the same.

I've been told to run 2 strokes on 95 or better.

The theory being if you're adding oil at say 2% you're diluting the octane by 2%.

there's a difference between a performance two stroke and a scooter - just look at the average jandal wearing scooter rider and ask yourself, "will the manufacturer really expect them to know anything about fuel and maintenance?" ; scooters don't need high octane, they're governed down to 2.2KW as it is.

exactly - derestricting them is going to have a more profound effect than petrol is, although my point was that they aren't built for crazy compression and high power requiring better fuels

I've seen that some of the Aprilia 50cc scooters are factory rated at about 8bhp. I went into a Baotian dealer and the guy there said all the scooters they sell are restricted to 50kmh and 2kw but if I want he will de-restrict it for free.

Umm, actually, a MOPED is not supposed to be morew than 2hp, BUT a Scooter casn be any HP you like...
Burgman owners would get quite upset at the fact their bike is restricted to 2Hp.

Not all 50cc Scooters (or bikes) are Mopeds eiither... But it seems the Post Office doesn't give a flying...

As for Octane, Run it on 91. It burns faster, and the compression Ratio on a 50cc 2 stroke scooter is usually around 7.5:1 or somehting redicusly low.
As said, weren't built for performance....

And what do you think the quality of fuel is like in say, Timor Leste?

Not that it matters, but it 2kw max not 2hp and no faster than 50 for a moped... in theory...
