If I were gonna drop a grand, I'd probably be looking for a new suit.
Buy it in NZ? Are you crazy? It's $1200, but whatever, the point is that it's priced a little out of the average second hand market.
so for me looking for some near new leathers would you say this is a good buy?
well the prices i have been getting are
Jacket about $899 and
pants about $899 as well, so what would be
$1,798 so i would save about $600
So is it worth $600 to you to have:
- A dealer to take it back to
- A choice of colours
- Being the first owner
And there's your answer
Mind you, maybe ring a dealer and tell them you situation... perhaps try and lower the above premium to closer to $3-400? They're quality leathers, you're likely to spend over a decade in them, so they might as well be a perfect fit with a warranty, but YMMV.
I take it those are not the 'best' prices you can get? Just phone enquiries? I'd go and see a local retailer and get their best price off them, you may find that there isn't that much difference (like imdying suggested) and it could be better to just go new. Love the A* gear myself.
Yeah that's true... definitely better off talking turkey in person, it's definitely a better communications medium for doing deals.
In retail you never give out your best price over the phone. A, you haven't got any control of the sale, b, it could be a competitor ringing up to price check you. You simply don't do it.
Even with that kind of price difference I think I'd opt for the new option due to the benefit of having someone to go back to if something is wrong, getting to choose your own sizing and colour etc. (Plus the feeling of being the first owner of a new product, so nice!)
But yeah, if you explain your situation I'm sure the dealer would be happy to cut you a deal, if they take a couple of hundred off I assume that they're still going to be making a decent profit off it so there's no harm in trying.
I strongly recommend Qausimoto gear, his website is: http://www.quasimoto.co.nz/
I just got a leather jacket off him for $410, delivered to my door, very good fit, qaulity is great, I feel like I should have paid another couple hundred bucks for it. he also does pants for a little bit less than that. thats a full suit for under $800, brand new.
this dude wears the stuff he makes himself on a litrebike on the track, so he has faith in his own gear.
really good to deal with.
Worth a look, could be the difference in price of a back protector and some good boots.
