Rules of cricket

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.

When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.

There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Do'nt even get me started on American Footy. 2 mins of play, 10 mins of rest. 900 players per side so no need to be in shape. Just be muscley or fat, don't worry about being fit you only need to play for a total of 20 mins over the 2 hours.

And I was wondering how long it would be until someone had a bite at American sports, hell I even thought of it myself. If there is one game that isn't sure of itself, it's rugby. I enjoy the game but how many damn rule changes do they have to go through?

Rugby is a sport I'm interested to learn about. Actually last year the world games were hosted here in Kaohsiung and I wanted to go to 'Sevens' I think they're called, but couldn't get time off work.

It's not exacctly true but most people I know back home joke that the time outs are so they can show more commercials.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was true lol, most of our games here are night games because that's when more people are watching the TV's therefore bigger advertiser catchment. Not too worry about young children going to games late at night in the midle of winter or anything. Now the clubs are struggling to get people through the gates, people would rather support their team in front of a TV.

Aye, especially with the economy back home being the way it is more and more people are thinking twice if they want tickets to games, let alone season tickets.

Actually, that makes perfect sense.

Now if only someone could explain the soccer "off-side" rule in such simple terms...

Thanks, but of course can't take credit for writing it, a friend from South Africa sent it to me when I asked him if there's an easy way to explain cricket, and he sent me this.

What about off-sides don't you understand?

That and from what I hear you can get bloody welll drunk and eat your heart out during those 5 days as well if you're a spectator.
