Good motor with a rubbish tranz. That one I posted up is probably the nicest one I have seen.

SuperCheap engine hoists rule (with better bolts in them) was motor and box too its the only way

The Leyland Super Comet had the short doors and wheel step, the larger Beaver, Hippo and Octopus had the long doors. The Albion Reiver had a cable operated two speed transfer box half way down the chassis....fun to row it through all the gears.

I remember the Chipliners, and worked for Winstones in 1974, at the big Penrose workshop, but the only Fodens they had then were the quarry trucks. They had the 2 stroke engine, 250 cu in, same size as a Falcon...but a bit more grunt than a gutless Falcon. I served my time with a guy who had worked for Fodens in Penrose for the 10 years previous - years spent hearing stories about Fodens, but never got to work on or drive one...but my father did.

Picked up a DVD in the Red Shed a few years back called "NZ Road Memories". An interesting collection of short films covering many aspects of NZ's traffic and roads.

I'm sure there's at least one British Leyland vehicle to be seen - just making sure we stay on topic... hehe

What was the common Leyland (Ithink) that had the doors behind the cab on a angle?

Hate triumph heralds, my girlfriend was killed in one and they dont hold good memories for me.

I was watching something on the telly tonight called auction room from the land of OZ and they auctioned of a leyland p76 Targa Floria for $21500. An Indian fella bought it. Ugly color too for an ugly car.

Morris Trader isn't it?? My dad drove one very much like that in the uk delivering carpets, I went with him once from bradford to london and spent hours sitting on the floor watching the road go by from those corner windows.

Trader - would have been a Thames (Ford) . Morris Commercial and Thames Trader would have been aimed a the same sort of market I think

From a quick visit to Mr Google - Morris Commercial.

Question: how do I insert a picture so it appears in the text as has been done with the P76? I have done it before but can't remember how tonight - and I've had no wine with the fish I had for dinner!
