On an A series midget motor 1 and 4 cylinders have better cooling so you can drive these cylinders harder. A scatter cam drives 1&4 harder than 2&3. It was expensive and it really makes sfa extra power, but when you only have 70 hp std every one helps.

A bit like small-block Chev V8 - real grunty blown ones need the middle two cylinders on each side to run richer than the rest 'cos of the two middle exhaust ports being side by side, not evenly spaced like just about all Ford and big-block Chev V8s.

HUH... ya what, how and why would you tune tw0 pots diferent to the other two? I mean like they would be fighting the other 2 surley all 4 pots need to be tuned the same???

Mine goes fine but is a bit "cammy" for road use, her indoors doesent like driving it, also because the thing also has a HD clutch and is very easy to stall.

Actually the new high lift rockers made more diference than the new cam.

Another similar thing, not really applicable to an A series, is to have the lobes advanced the further they are from the cam drive to compensate for high rev and load cam flex. Be quite handy if you own a high rev Pinto

Who did your head work Flip? The mate's RS2000 rally car had the head sent off to Marsh and fuck me, what a difference was already flowed by a bunch in Christchurch (aeroworks or something similar sounding?) but the intake side was all choked up and not flowing. 12hp in the midrange it got, same cam, motor etc, just the head work and new valves (same size, but stainless so a wee bit lighter than the standard Chev fuckers that were in there)

Damn thes 'A' series motor - no rear seal on them.
So after flogging them for a few miles and parkign in the imperial drive-way they leave a Lake Ellesmere.

Made a hole in my cement supplies fixing that one.
