The old man had a double six. He noticed the original lump was absolute shite and bunged a 350 chev in it instead. He reported damn near double the hp and about half the fuel consumption.
Was a much better wagon all round, in fact. He did eventually get sick of the ongoing work in repairing fukt window winders, wipers, door locks, speedo, wiring shorts, etc etc. So it ended up at the tip.
The chev went into to a CF bedford, and when that rotted around it found a home in a Toyota ute. Last I heard it was still going strong.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
Saw this one on the telly last night, an engine bay you could eat your dinner off.....

Did anyone else see this little beauty on Seven Sharp last night?

It's been donated to the Cancer Society for auction. During the course of the programme the bids shot up from around $10K to over $20K - currently sitting at $23,650.
It's had a full ground-up rebuild, meticulously documented and receipted. Apparently the rebuild cost over $19K.
Edit - lol, beaten to it.

That's a stunning example and not far away from my dream classic car, being a Humber Sceptre MKI.
My Dad had a Hillman Super Minx, which looks quite similar to this model.
Absolute classic, thanks for posting![]()
TOP QUOTE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”
Parents had a 63 Humber 90, cream and tan, 4 speed column change. Learned to drive in it, got my licence in it, and had my first crash (slid off a hill road into the ditch) in it.
Super minx was the Hillman version (badge engineering, Todd motors could bring in twice as many cars if half were Hillmans and the other half humbers)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Looks like he's tried to update the crankcase breathing by running the hose into the airfilter with a brass angle fitting - at least on the engine side, unlike Rootes later attempt on the Hunter, where it was fed in before the filter, and got it soaked in oil. This will just put oil into the carb...oh, it's OK, the engine is mint eh. This engine was unable to go full PCV because of a missing vital component - an actual timing cover oil seal....they just ran a reverse worm.

Yeah, as expected - hoax bid. But it all ends well - it's gone to the underbidder for $40K. And TradeMe are coming to the party and topping up the shortfall for the charity.

Publicity brings all the tards to the yard,.
Upside is that it beat the price up for the charity, so good outcome all round.

Charity or not, there's a lot of cars I'd rather have for 40k on trademe rather than a very plain family car for very average families from my childhood.
