Does anyone know of a good tyre shop in Auckland that'll do a good wheel alignment and balance on classic cars?

    cheers,

It might not be the alignment, but it's a good starting point.

A warn steering rack and also past it shockers can produce similar symtoms.

Are those boys at the top of your road no good?

I've used them and they seem(ed) pretty good They found my steering was spot on and didn't charge me

Which road is that? If you mean in Birkenhead, I've moved to G-field now lol.

ummm could be a worn steering rack, never know.

First I'm getting my mechanic, to use his handy dandy BMC hydrospastic pump to pump up/check my susepnsion pressure/level, then it's wheel alignment/balance

Found a place on Target road that's meant to be good, so shall check them out.

I didn't realise you had moved.

Loads of places down your end.

Sounds like you're on top of the problem

    Cheers mate,

What sort of work does he do?

All the more contacts I can get the better.

I have used Steve at Strong bros on Diana drive for my MGB, and he's a good guy

Dad has been retired for a few years now, and has indicated to me that if I don't want to hold on to any of the specialist tools he is happy to sell them off to enthusiasts.

This is a complete collection from a Pommy mech that arrived in NZ in 1960 and serviced everything Austin and Morris (and of course MG, Wolseley, and Riley with BMC and Leyland).

I am quite sad that they have to go, as I remember all the valve grinds and clutches, cams and webber carb replacements we decided to do on the minis and 1100s/1300s we built together when I was getting my initiation into cars in the early 80's.

As much as I would love to hold on to the Mini we have up for sale, it's not that practical for us right now so the gear is here if you want it.

Tell you what, you can have the car and all the tools as a package if you like. You would probably get that for less than it would cost for just the tools in ten years time.
