Far too big for my liking.

I consider my landcrab as huge! Well not that huge, but pretty big compare to the mini and 1100/1300

mate... The 3L had a few issues but look on line at the mo there are several 3L on TM selling, still going strong.
Cant think of any issues with any other Triumph's off hand that gave any more shit than the avarage Pongo cage did of the time, beter than most... that thing of mine had 220,000 k on it and all It did then was burn a valve out.
    cheers DD

Did my apprenticship on Triumphs and British Leyland at the end of their reign (Hondas were taking over).Triumphs were by far the most high maintenace vehicles we serviced (in fact when one came in we would fuck off and hope some other poor basterd had to remove the 5,000 bolts on the bell housing to do the clutch on a three year old car!).
The rear end on those things are a bloody abortion! In saying that would I own one now? ......yep!
I'm looking to buy a pommy classic in the next few months and a Triumph (unbeleviably to those who know me!) is on my list.

I started my apprenticeship in 1980.By far the worst was the 2000/2500 tcs they had constant wheel bearing problems and of course replacing universal joints every bloody half hour or so.
The independant rear axle was a good idea but in typical British fashion, unreliable.
Replacing clutches at 20,000 k was a regular occurrence,
The last of the TCs were (in my opinion)the pick of the bunch. The 's' model had power steer and had ironed out a lot of the clunks and driveline freeplay the earlier ones had.
The build quality compared to Honda was frankly ...shit It was competing in a market with other vehicles which were made with a different philosiphy i.e not made to rule by unions which saw the quality of the mid 70s product turn to shit which ultimately killed off a great industry.
The fuel injected models were a fucken nightmare.
I didn't have much to do with earlier heralds etc allthough we did see the odd mk1 triumph.
Allthough it sounds like I am knocking the product I am not, that is the way it was and I still would buy one..
However facts are facts and that is my experience having been at a franchise for 8 years with them.
The only thing that came along and made the Triumph look relatively well built was the SD1 Rover and thats saying something!
However, seriously I am not trying to wind you Triumph lovers up, as they had a load of good features as well which far outway the bad and NO Jap car no matter how reliable etc etc can compare with the Brit stuff.

Please don't mention the SD1, I'd like very much to forget they exist (after I find and steal every twin plenum motor)

And the manual boxes, but we can peel 'em out of Taxis and Sherpa vans anyway

I want a P6b again, with a twin plenum set up and LT77 box.
    That'd do me.
