If the pressures aren't the same (ie higher in the venturi than in the bowl), fuel will be pushed back up the jets (carb 101 - atmospheric air pressure in the float bowl is higher than the pressure in the venturi, that pushes fuel through the jets)

The mini I turbo'ed was running 10PSI boost, I made a boost controlled fuel regulator valve, and used Triumph 2.5PI fuel pump (Lucas - same motor as windscreen wipers) this in the days when it was not possible to buy this sort of stuff off the shelf.

With the Weber carb the float chamber vent is on the front so it was easy to build a box to attach the hose from the compressor that cover the vent and the venturis. (Dellortos have the float chamber vent on top of the carb - the car owner tried a dellorto once. Worked really well until boost came on, pressure forced fuel out the vent and all over the exhaust manifold. Took a while to put the fire out.)

Tuning (ie jetting) was relatively straight forward, about an hours worth of dyno time. Water injection was added later, again home made - windscreen washer bottle and pump, pressure switch and a brass jet in the compressor intake.

The car was so successful in an up-to-2.3 litre class that turbos were eventually banned.
It's piss easy with CV carbs, run a pilot tube pointing to the airflow and plug your bowl vents in that.
Run an elec pump with 1:1 rising rate regulator set at around 2psi above boost pressure.
If you do your pilot tube the right way you can get away with factory jetting too.
Bit of a laugh with that Dellorto you mention

I'm going to run this bottom end for a couple of years and then get Peter to build up a stronger one and put a smaller pulley to up the boost a bit.
Very cool! I'd love to go for a blat in her

I'd like to get my engine converted to unleaded at some point. Seems so expensive here

On thinking about it this was closer to 30 years ago. I guess it would be easier today with all the factory and aftermarket turbo bits available.

Another idea I'd like to try (bucket list = never will) would be a K100 BMW (bike) head on a mini block. (I know lots of others have already done this) Use the original BMW (non mapped) injection would be pretty straight forward to turbo thru.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Mine will be built from scratch, but there's a lot of info regarding CV carbs (thank God!)

The BMW used mech injection didn't it? Would be, very very neat

Hopefully my mechanic is back this week, want those news CVs and ball joints in. This should help the steering greatly

Also I will have to remember to get off my arse and get that rebuild kit for my carb from SU next month.

Electronic, Bosch has had electronic fuel injection out for ages....from memory used on late 60's VW's. I've heard the K100 head is an easy addition...probably better to throw the whole A series POS away and just use a Toyota engine...
