The first Nissan trucks, the long snout model, was a 2 stroke diesel - UD stands for Uniflow diesel, I never seen one in the flesh. Many years ago I read that Nissan had a 2 stroke car engine in development, with full pressure bottom end and camshafts and valves....I took that to be diesel. The 2 stroke diesel is very efficient, as I mentioned the Foden was 250 cu in, the TS3 202 cu in, and the GMC and Detroits are not that big either, but it seems they can't meet modern emission targets. I don't know why, they have complete scavenging.
