What my Gore BF said is correct.

I'd rip it apart and check it out

Thanks sweetie, will be doing the same on a clutch master cylinder in the morning. Was fun driving it back from invergiggle today with no clutch, not my car though, so all good. Just glad it had a good battery and starter motor.

It's always more interesting with no clutch

It is in rush hour traffic, if you can call it that in Invers. Just about every bloody light was red too.
    Fords are tough though.

If this was true, you would have been using a clutch the whole way...

I was having a hard time accepting that the Japanese would make such an unusual engine in the '60's - at that time they were either building under license or down right copying other developed designs. Found out the UD engines were very much a copy of GMC or Detroit engines, but used an inline pump and direct injection rather than unit injectors like the Detroit. Made more power than a Detroit, and better fuel economy, but not reliable.

This is a 6 cyl, and has twin blowers compared to the Detroit's single.

Looks sorta like the 11ltr 6cyl Merc motor I have been working on, but the merc lays on its side.

"copying other developed designs" is what the Nips did... but improved it, allways would.

Where are the 'blowers' I see nothing mechanical of the crank pully end and there aint no turbines on it? EDIT hold on wait a minute... yes I do running off the fly wheel, well done.

Plans for the weekend? Get that servo off!

It's a Girling Mk. IIB 'Powerstop', so even if I did want to work on it, I wouldn't be able as they're a sealed unit it seems.

Gonna send it down to my father in law and he'll drop it off at the brake place.

Also I got pre-approval for a mortgage, does that means I can go car shopping now?

Hey, kids! Captain Hero here with Getting Laid Tip 213 - The Backrub Buddy!

Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.

GM used a different blower for each engine size, or cyl numbers - so that 4/71 or 6/71 blower you see on the top of a V8 dragster came off a 4 or 6 cyl GMC or Detroit. Nissan are probably just doubling up on their 3 cyl engine, complete with blowers.

Easy to further develop a design when most of the work is done, and the budget is huge compared to what the original designers had to work with. An interesting quote I once read about Japanese engineering - ''If one bolt will hold it, two will do, and three will make sure...then use four.''
