Advice for buying scooters/any for sale?

Hello. After my first experience buying scooters, I decided that all Chinese scooters are pieces of fucking crapshit. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=269939760

I paid 200 bucks for it. Never again
So the advice I need is:

What are good makes to look for? What year/models, and what kind of price would I be paying for a decent 2nd hand scooter? I have around 750 bucks to spare to do so. Cheers for any help! 027 234 7255 is teh number to text if you're selling.

Most Taiwanese brand scooters are reliable, especially when you see some 80 year old grandma riding one that hasn't had the oil changed in years, yet it's still running.

And yeah, if you can get one with disc brakes.

Most Chinese bikes use the same engine, parts and upgrade kits flood the parts section on tardme but they are cheap...depends how you define cheap tho..
Taiwan bikes are ok they are often companies formed from main jap brands like Honda- SYM/Kymco etc or use a copy of the Yamaha/Minarelli engine like a 1PE40QMB etc.
13in wheels have more tyres to choose than 10in especially if you change for winter.
If you want to fit a big bore kit 2 stroke is easy and cheap (under 500 to double or triple the hp)
Carb engines are cheaper to mod than injected.
    Front disk brake
rear disk if you can find one

Looked for months for one for the Mrs on Trade me - go for a Honda, all the other jap makes seem to have their querks, Yamaha jogs seem to have speedo's that often crap out and the electric start. Looking at what make of scooter holds the highest price for the year is the best gauge .

Jogs are pretty fast for scooters. Hondas are four stroke crap that die on hills.
