Newbie's wounded pride

Ok, time to admit I have just wounded my pride and grazed my elbow. Awesome ride today, following the same trail as wednesday nights ride, until we turned at wheatsheaf and when back over the Dyers Pass road and thru the summit. Lost site of mzdnn until i realised coming round a bend he was videoing me, which was all good until i pulled over for him to catch up and another bike went past me, tooted and me thinking it was him and realised it wasn't, lost my footing and down he came. Couldn't hold him and over i went.

All good tho mzdnn only saw me lying on the ground paniced coz he thought i had lost it in the bend and thought i was really hurt, until i moved, but couldn't pick the bike up again, had to get his help and then had a good laugh.

Not spectular for my first drop but still my first. uuuggghhhh.

So there is it, my admission, and wounded pride.

I wouldn't worry to much. I did a similar thing coming out of woodstock. I was behind the other half and the road had a bit a rise, i went to put my feet down and there was no road (camber of road) and over we went. 2 nice men helped me pick it up. Wasn't hurt nor was the bike so all good. Of cause Brent didn't see it happen cause he had already taken off, he had to come back and look for me when he realised I wasn't behind him. By the time he got back I had already been helped by the others.

As I said in the other thread, it's happened to us all! It's the first and probably won't be your last. I've managed to drop my bike twice so far and now I always make sure the stand is down before jumping off!

Aww,it happens,nothing to be ashamed of.

My bike fell on me when i tried to park it on a downwards angle at a friends place

Luckily he came running and lifted it off me.

Note to self, avoid cambers, stopping on bends, and always have hefty male on hand to pick up bike....

Good on you for admitting the fall..... Makes me feel better knowing we all make mistakes... !

Things I do with out relising it, but these same things new riders need to think about.
when entering a servo forcourt, avoid the diesel pumps (watch out for diesel spilage)
park nose up (if nose down leave in gear)
take note of terain when stoping (look ahead for a high spot to put foot down on)
avoid low spots for the side stand...
heaps more, kinda the things you learn as ya go.

so lets hope and theres no reason why not, that ya 1st drop is ya last

Thanks everyone for you words of support, i appreciate it that I am not the only one to make an idiot of myself lol....elbow not too bad, bf kissed it better when i got home, but i am still milking it for all i can get.......just something a girl has to do while she can get it...LOL

everyone drops their bike sooner or later i dropped my new bike the first time i rode it!

Then I dropped a brand new bike - an old lady drove into me, and I was so angry, I jumped off without putting the stand down and the bike fell on top of me! What a dick!

Hey if this makes you feel any better - my husband with 40 years riding experience was speeding up our road and hit a mossy patch and his front wheel shot out from under him and he dropped his bike! Not just a newbie mistake.

I was told by a plastic welder who "does heaps of bike fairings" that the first time (especially if your bike is new) is the worst. The virgin drop breaks you in, so to speak, then once you've gotten over the "omg, my poor bike" factor you then ride it properly. The point being that until that first scratch, ding, sideswipe we can baby our rides along with the best intention of never allowing them to meet the ground. Once that first knock is over, we tend to lose that sense of "mustn't jeopardise the paintwork" mentality and just ride! (I know I was like that after my first drop...)
