07 R6 Drive Sprocket 'Chain Guide'

    Hello

I've got a race this Sunday at a Puke. Last time I was there I was on 16/43 and bike was over-revving a bit much, especially when rolled in to the kink near the end of the straight

I got a 17T front sprocket and it goes on fine but I need to remove the 'chain guide' piece and the drive sprocket cover.

Is it fine to run without the guide there? (piece 30 in the attached parts fiche diagram)

Also of note, the offset on the 17T sprocket seemed fractionally greater than the one I took off, probably about 1mm difference. Everything seemed to remount and tighten up wtihout any unusual stress. Should I still be concerned?

    Cheers!

    Phil
